5K Walk/Run

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and each October Independence House hosts a 5K Walk/Run to honor survivors and raise funds to support our services. We encourage everyone to show their support for Independence House, survivors of intimate partner violence and a violence-free community by walking or running.

Join us – rain or shine – 10 AM at Independence House.
Registration begins at 9:30 AM.
Coffee, juice, pastries and fruit served before walk/run begins.
Water available before and after.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Walk/Run Register as an individual walker or runner. Ask your friends, family, co-workers and acquaintances to sponsor you by providing a donation to Independence House. The top three walkers/runners with highest donations will receive a prize!
Organize a Team  Organize your friends, family, co-workers and work-out buddies to register as a team! The individual who raises the most money per team will receive a free T-shirt and a chance to win one of the top three prizes.
Make a Donation Sponsor a walker or runner by making a donation. Or make your secure online donation.
Organization/Businesses Are you a business or organization looking to get involved? Consider putting together a team. Wear T-shirts advertising your group on the day of the event. Business/Organization representation will be acknowledged on our website per your approval. Check out our brochure for business/organization involvement.

A life free of violence, those who were silenced, a battered mother who is unable, empowerment, your children’s future, all the survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

DID YOU KNOW?

Nationally, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men are victims of domestic violence.
Nationally, 1 in 4 teens reports verbal, physical, emotional or sexual abuse each year.
Children who witness domestic violence are more likely to attempt suicide, abuse drugs or alcohol, and run away from home.
In Massachusetts last year 21 men, women and children lost their lives because of intimate partner homicide.
